Sonya Walton joined the SHORE board in 2022 and currently serves as the board’s president. She is a technical writer at the University of Waterloo, focusing on proposal development and review for research grants, and managing editor of Health Reform Observer – Observatoire des Réformes de Santé at McMaster University. She lives in Waterloo with her dog Fearne and kitty cat Zoe.

Rosemary has been a SHORE board member since 2018 and is currently the board secretary. She is a pharmacist and the Director of Lifelong Learning at the University of Waterloo’s School of Pharmacy. She is also a mother, stepmother, grandmother, and long-time volunteer. She is proud to support and promote the work SHORE does in Waterloo Region and beyond. Rosemary and her husband, Brian, live in Waterloo with their goldendoodle, Charlie Brown. 

Lianna has been a SHORE board member since 2020. She is a criminal defence lawyer for the Barbra Schlifer Commemorative Clinic in Toronto. Lianna is social justice oriented and thrilled to be a part of an organization that promotes access to inclusive sexual and reproductive health services, resources, and education. She lives in Hamilton with her wife, Sara, and their two Italian greyhounds, Sedgwick and Sophie.

Jane has been a SHORE board member since 2018 and currently serves as past board president. A love of politics led her to a career in government relations, and she now channels this energy as an active volunteer ‎focused on building a strong and vibrant community. Jane is a firm believer in SHORE’s vision, mission and values, especially the need to change the stigma surrounding abortion care, and SHORE’s vital role in Waterloo Region and beyond. She and her family live in Waterloo. 

Alana has been a SHORE board member since 2022 and is a political science professor at the University of Waterloo. She is a long-time feminist researcher and activist, committed to inclusive models of reproductive justice. She lives (on the best street) in downtown Kitchener.

Dana’s current role is Events Manager at a local not-for-profit. She has extensive experience with accounting and operations
management. She has been invested in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for several years, with a passion for sustainability. She is the proud parent of a whole brood of children and is thrilled to be involved with SHORE and excited to help support and promote the work it does.

Leona has been a SHORE board member since 2022. She is currently a medical student at the Waterloo Regional Campus of McMaster University. She is passionate about sexual and reproductive health and is very excited about SHORE’s ongoing efforts to expand care to more communities in Ontario. 

Brynn is a Housing Programs Advisor with the Region of Waterloo, where she supports community housing providers in strengthening their operations, governance, asset management, and financial position. She joined the SHORE Board in 2024 and is excited to be part of an organization providing such necessary and inclusive sexual and reproductive health services. Brynn lives in beautiful downtown Galt.

Dani joined the SHORE Board in 2024 through Capacity Canada’s Gen Z on boards program. She graduated from the Wilfrid Laurier University and works at the Waterloo Region Community Foundation as a Digital Marketing Associate. She lives in Kitchener and spends much of her free time focusing on social causes and hopes to continue working within the community towards positive change.

Priya Thasan is a seasoned risk management specialist working in the insurance field, with extensive experience identifying and resolving gaps in policies and procedures. Priya joined the SHORE board in June 2022 and recently took on chairing the nominations committee. She lives in Waterloo with her husband and two children and enjoys listening to jazz and true crime podcasts.
